31m7m42m WELCOME TO STEREOPTICON 2 0m
33m7m 0m
If you want to see and create true stereoscopic images on your Amiga, you
don't have to spend £600 for a pair of i-glasses.
Stereopticon transforms normal IFF pictures into true stereoscopic pictures
viewable through simple home-made red/blue glasses. The three-dimensional
effect is immediate and convincing and is experienced by everyone with
normal vision.
The Stereoptic system sets up an exact model of the way people see three-
dimensional scenes in real life. Its immediacy, flexibility, and ease of
use make it ideal for animations and games.
Even an inexperienced user with the simplest Amiga can complete his first
stereoscopic picture within a few minutes. Animators can make stereoscopic
animations with a new realism and presence. Programmers can create games
with objects that seem to move through three-dimensional space, from far
behind the monitor screen to well in front of it.
Here's what Jason Holborn (Amiga Shopper 53) said about Stereopticon 1 --
"Truly impressive...you'll be amazed...produces the best 3D stereoscopic
images I've ever seen...92%."
32mNEW IN VERSION 20m
* The Stereopticon Image Converter for transforming many non-AGA IFF
pictures (such as clip art) into pictures with the palette arrangement
required by Stereopticon. You no longer have to create pictures from
scratch.
* High Resolution Mode.
* Batch Conversion feature.
* The DOUBLE button, which doubles the depth of the stereoscopic images.
* Improved palettes for better stereoscopic effect.
* Animation Script Mode, for processing simple animations in one batch.
* Easier-to-use interfaces.
* Disk-magazine-style hypertext User Guide, illustrated with stereoscopic
pictures, demos, an animation, and a simple game.
32mTHE GLASSES0m
The page called MAKE YOUR OWN GLASSES in the User Guide contains complete
instructions for making your own 3-D glasses.
32mSYSTEM REQUIREMENTS0m
A one-megabyte Amiga, Kickstart 1.3 to 3. Stereopticon can adapt itself to
the PAL, SECAM, and NTSC television standards.
33m>>0m PLEASE NOTE that Stereopticon 2 may be incompatible with certain A1200
ram expansions. Some boards can be disabled with a keypress on bootup.
Others may have to be disconnected. If you can't run Stereopticon, you can
still look at the stereoscopic example pictures (in the SOPics drawer) with
an Iff viewer or paint program. The text file SOGuide/A05 and the picture
SOPics/P06 will tell you how to make the glasses.
32mTHIS IS "CODEWARE"0m
This freely-distributable disk contains the complete Stereopticon 2
software: the complete latest version of the program, all the examples, and
the complete User Guide.
But until you enter a code word available from the programmer, some features
of the program will be disabled. The restrictions are:
* Multitasking won't work while the program is processing or saving
stereoscopic pictures.
* All saved stereoscopic pictures will be covered with the word "DEMO".
* The program takes longer to start because an introductory picture is
loaded first.
32mOBTAINING THE EXPANSION CODE0m
Your personalized Expansion Code will transform the freely-distributable
Stereopticon 2 demo into the full, unrestricted, personalized program. You
will also have access to low-cost user support (see ABOUT STEREOPTICON in
the User Guide).
To obtain the Code, send US$30 to Ernest Ruckle, 13 Parnell Street,
Waterford, Ireland. Payment may also be made at the current rates of
exchange in the currencies of the EU, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and
Australia. Your reply will be sent by air mail and includes a set of
red/blue filters to make the glasses. Add $1 for each additional set of
filters.
32mINSTALLING STEREOPTICON0m
The Stereop drawer and its complete contents are necessary to the working
of Stereopticon. You can run Stereopticon from the Stereop2 disk with no
installation.
To install Stereopticon on a hard disk, copy the complete Stereop Drawer
from the Stereop2 disk to your hard disk. For example, to copy it to hard
disk partition dh1:, open a Shell window and enter these two commands:
COPY Stereop2:Stereop TO dh1:Stereop ALL
COPY Stereop2:Stereop.info TO dh1:Stereop.info
Or, from Workbench, just drag the Stereop drawer icon from the Stereop2 disk
window to the dh1: disk window.
Then remove the Stereop2 disk from your system, open the new Stereop drawer,
and double-click the Stereopticon2 program icon. A file requester will
appear. Use it to locate the SO-Locate file in the Stereop drawer, and
double-click the file name.
